New in version 8.1.1 (March 2019)

  • Windows Server 2019 support added.
  • Ribbon user interface based on Windows Ribbon Framework is implemented in the Fax Voip Control Panel. Old-style interface is still maintained for backward compatibility.
  • Cover Pages support, when sending faxes via built-in lines and Fax Voip Console. You can send a fax that consists only of a cover page, or you can send a cover page in addition to another fax document. You can use standard templates (Confidential, FYI, Generic, Urgent) or create personal templates in the Windows Cover Page Editor application. This new functionality uses Fax Service API and requires the installation of Windows Fax Service.
  • Sending cover pages using SendFax.exe command line utility (with customization).
  • Greatly improved Mail to Fax (Mail to Audio) - Built-in lines and Mail to Fax - Microsoft Fax functionality. The body of your e-mail messages will act as the fax cover page, while any attached documents (e.g. PDF, TIFF, or TXT formats) will be converted into additional fax pages. Faxes can be sent to multiple recipients, and you can mix different formats as attachments to your messages. Also, you now can enable debug logging for these features. Improved E-mail Templates.
  • Mail to Fax (Mail to Audio) Rules - Built-in lines and Mail to Fax Rules - Microsoft Fax. Depending on the e-mail address, the following settings can be overriden: Delivery Receipts, E-mail Attachments, Cover Pages, Sender Information, E-mail Templates, Fax Mode (with built-in lines), Fax Priority and Schedule (with Microsoft Fax). Blocking unwanted e-mail addresses.
  • Configuring Mail to Fax (Mail to Audio) services to be started under regular user account instead of local system account, when running Fax Voip as a Windows Service. This minimizes the probability of unexpected problems when operating as a service.
  • Changes in implementation of Incoming Fax Routing Methods (Microsoft Fax): Route through e-mail, Store in a folder, Print. They are now implemented using Fax Voip Routing Extension integrated into the Windows Fax Service. Also, you now can enable debug logging for these features.
  • Custom routing for incoming faxes - Microsoft Fax (Fax Voip Routing Extension). Allows you to easy add any routing functionality by using custom application that is started after receiving a fax. Code sample is attached.
  • Fixed double sending the first RING when receiving an incoming call to Virtual COM Port (modem). In particular, this inevitably caused the Windows Fax Service to crash if it was configured to automatically answer after 1 ring (in all Fax Voip versions prior to 8.1.1).
  • In all supported systems, automatic installing of Windows Fax and Scan (Fax Server Role) during Fax Voip installation, if not installed. Creating shortcuts on the desktop and in the main menu.
