This chapter explains how to access faxes created by another user under the current user account. For example, a fax server administrator wants to view and manage faxes created by other users. Or some service running under a different user account automatically generates fax jobs and you need to have access to these faxes, an example is the Mail To Fax function from the Fax Voip FSP package.
To run the Windows Fax and Scan under a different user account
1. Right click the Start button, and then click Command Prompt.
2. In the Command Prompt, run the following command:
runas.exe /savecred /user:SERVER1\FaxUser %windir%\system32\WFS.exe
In our example, SERVER1\FaxUser is the local user account (including the computer name) whose faxes we want to access.
3. Enter the password for the user specified in the command line if necessary, and then click ENTER. The /savecred option is used to save the credentials and to avoid entering a password on subsequent launches.
Windows Fax and Scan application will be started under the specified user account, not under the current user account.
Alternatively, you can create a windows shortcut to launch Windows Fax and Scan. The Target parameter should be as shown below:
C:\Windows\System32\runas.exe /savecred /user:SERVER1\FaxUser %windir%\system32\WFS.exe
