Caller ID Number and Caller ID Name functions are supported with Virtual COM Ports (modems) by default. Additional settings are not required. Possibility to display both Caller ID Number and Caller ID Name depends on your fax software. For example, with Windows Fax and Scan, you can see only the number of the caller.
With Venta Fax & Voice you can see both Caller ID Number and Caller ID Name.
Notes
- Caller ID function can operate with both direct COM Port connection and via TAPI (the modem driver should be installed). Fax Voip T.38 Modem installs Fax Voip 14.4K TAPI Voice-Fax Modem driver for modems. Compared with the standard modem driver, this driver provides support for Caller ID Number and Caller ID Name. To add modems using Phone and Modems option in the Windows Control Panel not recommended.
- Sending correct Caller ID Number is not always possible via VoIP Service Provider network. For this reason, many VoIP providers use Caller ID Name instead of Caller ID Number to report the correct caller's number.
- Caller ID Name not supported with incoming ISDN CAPI 2.0 calls. Fax Voip T.38 Modem shows Caller ID Name using the following format: CAPI:[C]:[B], where [C] is the controller’s number and [B] is the B-channel’s number.
