Fax Settings (ISDN CAPI 2.0)

Fax Support

Fax Mode applied to the current rule.

G.711 audio fax

Check this option to receive faxes as audio.

T.38 fax

Check this option to receive faxes as T.38. This option can be used only with incoming calls via SIP or H.323 line.

Detect T.38 re-invite (not implemented in this application)

If this option is checked, Fax Voip T.38 Console waits for T.38 re-Invite from the other side. If this option is unchecked, Fax Voip T.38 Console sends T.38 re-Invite immediately after the connection is established. This option can be used only with incoming calls via SIP or H.323 line.

Send T.38 re-invite (with Fax-on-Demand only)

This option can be used only with incoming calls via SIP or H.323 line.

If this option is checked, Fax Voip T.38 Console sends T.38 re-Invite immediately after the connection is established.

If this option is unchecked, Fax Voip T.38 Console waits for T.38 re-invite from the other side.

CAPI fax (B3 protocol 4 or 5)

Check this option to receive faxes according to CAPI 2.0 specification. This option can be used only with incoming calls via ISDN CAPI 2.0 line.

G.711 Audio Fax Settings

The options, specified in this area, allow you to override default ECM and Maximum bitrate settings for audio fax.

Maximum bitrate

Use this option to change Maximum bitrate. Maximum bitrate value can be set 14400/9600/4800 which corresponds to rate limits of standard protocols used for facsimile. This option overrides the default maximum bitrate, specified in the Fax Settings.

Use default

To change Maximum bitrate, uncheck this option. If this option is checked, the default Maximum bitrate value is used.

Error Correction Mode

Possibility to use Error Correction Mode. This option overrides the default ECM value, specified in the Fax Settings.

Use default

To change default Error Correction Mode settings, uncheck this option. If this option is checked, the default settings are used.

T.38 Fax Settings

The options, specified in this area, allow you to override default ECM, Maximum bitrate and T.38 Redundancy settings for T.38 fax.

T.38 Redundancy

The options, specified in this area, allow you to override the default T.38 Redundancy settings.

Indication

Specifies the number of redundant T.38 fax packets to be sent to indicate CNG, CED tones, no signal. Ranges varies from 0 (no redundancy) to 5.

LS-Redundancy

Specifies the number of redundant T.38 fax packets to be sent for the low-speed V.21-based T.30 fax machine protocol. Low speed is used during the fax negotiation phase which is done at 300 Bps and is most likely to be affected by bad QoS. Ranges varies from 0 (no redundancy) to 5.

HS-Redundancy

Specifies the number of redundant T.38 fax packets to be sent for high-speed V.17, V.27, and V.29 T.4 or T.6 fax machine image data. High speed is used during the transmission phase which is done between 2400 Kbps and 14400 Kbps. Although bad QoS will deteriorate image quality, a few missing scan lines ultimately does not effect the human's perception of the received image. Ranges varies from 0 (no redundancy) to 5. Note that HS-Redundancy does not really affect incoming faxes, because the receiving party does not send high-speed IFP packets.

Use default

To change default SIP (or H.323) T.38 Redundancy settings, uncheck this option. If this option is checked, the default SIP (or H.323) T.38 Redundancy settings are used.

CAPI Fax Settings (B3 protocol 4 or 5)

The options, specified in this area, allow you to select B3 Protocol to be used with CAPI fax, override default ECM, Maximum bitrate and Resolution settings for CAPI fax.

B3 Protocol

Use this option to change B3 Protocol to be used. You can select 4: T.30 for Group 3 fax or 5: T.30 for Group 3 fax extended. Using of B3 Protocol 5 provides more possibilities. B3 Protocol 5 allows you to disable ECM (Error Correction). Moreover, using of B3 Protocol 5 provides more accurate statistics when receiving a fax. In particular, the statistical data is transmitted via CONNECT_B3_ACTIVE_IND CAPI 2.0 message in the beginning of faxing, and not only via DISCONNECT_B3_IND message like we have in the case of using B3 Protocol 4. It is recommended to use B3 Protocol 5 if possible. This option overrides the default B3 Protocol, specified in the “VOIP=>ISDN CAPI 2.0=>CAPI Fax=>CAPI Fax Reception=>B3 Protocol” field.

Use default

To change B3 Protocol, uncheck this option. If this option is checked, the default B3 Protocol  is used.

Maximum bitrate

Use this option to change Maximum bitrate. Maximum bitrate can be limited by any value from 2400 up to 14400. The value 0:adaptive means that maximum bitrate is not limited. This option overrides the default maximum bitrate, specified in the “VOIP=>ISDN CAPI 2.0=>CAPI Fax =>CAPI Fax Reception=>Maximum bitrate” field.

Use default

To change Maximum bitrate, uncheck this option. If this option is checked, the default Maximum bitrate value is used.

Disable ECM (B3 Protocol 5 only)

Possibility to disable Error Correction Mode. This option overrides the default settings, specified in the “VOIP=>ISDN CAPI 2.0=>CAPI Fax=>CAPI Fax Reception=>Disable Error Correction”. In the case of using B3 Protocol 4, this option is not applicable.

Use default

To change default Error Correction Mode settings, uncheck this option. If this option is checked, the default settings are used.

Enable High Resolution

Check this option if you want to have possibility to receive faxes in High Resolution (203x196 dpi). If this option is unchecked, CAPI faxes will always be received using Standard Resolution (203x96 dpi). This option overrides the default settings, specified in the “VOIP=>ISDN CAPI 2.0=>CAPI Fax=>CAPI Fax Reception=>Enable High Resolution”.

Use default

To change default Enable High Resolution settings, uncheck this option. If this option is checked, the default settings are used.

Fax Station ID

This option overrides the default Fax Station ID, specified in the “Fax=>Fax Station ID (default)” field.

Use default

To change Fax Station Id, uncheck this option. If this option is checked, the default Fax Station Id is used.

Fax HeadLine (with Fax-on-Demand only)

Fax HeadLine option is used only in the case of applying Fax-on-Demand function (fax sending). This option overrides the default Fax HeadLine, specified in the “Fax=>Fax HeadLine (default)” field.

Use default

To change Fax HeadLine, uncheck this option. If this option is checked, the default Fax HeadLine is used.
