Sending Caller ID (SIP)

When configuring the outgoing SIP calls from Fax Voip T.38 Modem the following should be taken into account:

• If SIP-Username (SIP-ID), specified for the call, consists only of digits, it will be transmitted to the called party's telephone equipment as Caller ID Number.
• The Display Name, specified for the call, is transmitted to the called party's telephone equipment as Caller ID Name.

To configure default Display Name and Default Username do the following:

1.     Open Fax Voip T.38 Modem Control Panel.

2.     Click VOIP in TreeView.

3.     In the Display Name field enter the Display Name (will be transmitted as Caller ID Name).

4.     In the Default Username field enter your phone number (will be transmitted as Caller ID Number).

5.     Click <Apply> button to save modified settings. Do not forget to restart Fax Voip T.38 Modem to operate with new settings. To do this click <STOP> button, then click <START> button.

The Default Username can be overridden by the SIP Username.

To specify the SIP Username different from the Default Username do the following:

1.     Open Fax Voip T.38 Modem Control Panel.

2.     Click VOIP in TreeView, then click SIP.

3.     Uncheck Use Default Username option.

4.     In the SIP Username field enter your phone number (will be transmitted as Caller ID Number).

5.     Click <Apply> button to save modified settings. Do not forget to restart Fax Voip T.38 Modem to operate with new settings. To do this click <STOP> button, then click <START> button.

The SIP Username can be overridden by SIP Registration and Outgoing VOIP Call Routing settings. The Display Name value can be changed in the Outgoing VOIP Call Routing settings.

To override the SIP Username and Display Name in the Outgoing VOIP Call Routing rule do the following:

1.     Open Fax Voip T.38 Modem Control Panel.

2.     Click VOIP in TreeView, then click Outgoing Plan.

3.     To edit an existing rule select it and click Edit (or double-click the selected rule).

4.     In the VOIP Outgoing Call Routing Rule window, on the General page, in the Username field enter your phone number (will be transmitted as Caller ID Number). The Use Default option should be unchecked to be possible to change Username. Note that if the call is routed to the SIP server used for SIP Registration, the Username can not be selected arbitrarily and must match the Username specified in one of the entries in the SIP Registrations table.

5.     In the Display Name field enter the Display Name (will be transmitted as Caller ID Name). The Use Default option should be unchecked to be possible to change Display Name.

6.     Click <OK> button to fix changes.

7.     Click <Apply> button to save modified settings for Outgoing VOIP Call Routing. Do not forget to restart Fax Voip T.38 Modem to operate with new settings. To do this click <STOP> button, then click <START> button.

Notes

• Sending correct Caller ID Number is not always possible via VoIP network. For this reason, it is sometimes useful to enter a phone number in the Display Name field. It provides possibility to report your number as Caller ID Name instead of Caller ID Number.
